10 Tips for Fundraising $100
1. Digital Dialogue
Send emails to everyone you know inviting them to donate on your personal or team fundraising page! Create a simple email template and then send out the message to all your contacts. Go ahead-it’s easier than you think!
2. Personalize the Pen
Try sending a letter via the mail to friends, family business associates, vendors, doctor, dentist, insurance agent, hairdresser, congregants, and co-workers asking them to join CASA with their support. If you have a personal connection to CASA, share your story! Don’t forget to send a thank-you note to each person who gives.
3. Daily Dose of Discussions
Take your one-a-day vitamin and make your one-a-day ask! Each day, ask a different person to make a contribution. If even four people respond with a $25 gift, you will already have raised $100 in less than a week! Most people do not donate because they were never asked to donate. Mix up this challenge by doing your one-a-days for multiple weeks or by asking for specific donation amounts depending on your fundraising goal. The possibilities are endless!
4. Babysitter/Pet-sitter
Do your neighbor a favor in the name of a good cause! Ask for a donation towards CASA in return for your pet-sitting or babysitting services. The money you raise by caring for your friend’s children or pets will put you one step closer to your goal, and “advertising” your offer is a great way to inform others of CASA’s mission!
5. Cleaning Out the Closet
One person’s trash is another person’s treasure, right? Put that philosophy into action by cleaning out your basement, garage… wherever you store all your unneeded stuff! Ask your friends and family to donate to the sale as well. When customers come, instead of asking them to buy the goods, ask them to make a donation to CASA instead. Generosity is contagious!
6. Pinterest Who?
Forget Pinterest! Go old school and post a link to your fundraising page on the bulletin board at work, your place of worship, at the gym, or at school. Make sure to highlight your name, contact information, and the webpage address, and don’t forget to mention why you are participating in the CASA Superhero Run. Your story inspires others to contribute!
7. Double Or Nothing!
Check with your employer to see if they offer a matching funds program. Most matching funds programs will match your money dollar for dollar; some will even match twice the amount of your gift. Talk to a staff member in personnel/HR to obtain the paperwork required to get your gift matched. Then, see if co-workers are interested in doing the same!
8. Talk It Up
See every meeting as an opportunity! Ask for a few minutes on the agenda of any meetings you attend—work, school, community programs, you name it. Explain why you’re participating in the CASA Superhero Run and ask for everyone’s support. Even small contributions put you one step closer to your fundraising goal. Don’t forget to share any special connections you have with CASA with your audience!
9. Birthday Bash!
When your birthday rolls around and you know there’s not really much you need, put those gift-givers to work fundraising! Tell family and friends that in lieu of a traditional gift, you would like them to make a donation to CASA through your fundraising page for the Superhero Run. Enjoy your cake and ice cream as the donations roll in knowing that you—and your donors—are making a difference in the life of children in need!
10. Advertising the Ask
Change the recording on your voicemail to mention the Superhero Run and how callers can make a donation. Then, when you return calls, ask the person on the other end of the call to sponsor you. Ask for support in the signature line of your emails, and be sure to include a link to your personal or team fundraising page so it will be easy for email recipients to know how to donate!
