Friends of CASA roles
Event staffing — Filling volunteer shifts at events such as Bourbon and the Bayou, the CASA Superhero Run or RunTheBluegrass. Some events are run by CASA of Lexington; others are run by partner organizations that provide funding to CASA of Lexington from the event proceeds.
Event planning — Assisting with planning in advance of a fundraising or outreach event, such as serving on a planning committee, helping with event-specific mass mailings, asking for auction items from businesses or acquiring sponsors for events.
Administrative assistance — Anything to do with running the physical CASA office or non-confidential office work, including weeding and landscaping, helping with mass mailings, assembling volunteer training manuals and other tasks around the office.
Outreach/recruitment — Connecting CASA of Lexington with groups to speak to about our mission; staffing booths or providing a presence at an event or festival; or serving on the CASA of Lexington Volunteer Recruitment Advisory Committee.
Social media/marketing — Donating your skills as a videographer or photographer; helping drive attention to CASA on social media; sharing your social media/online expertise to help CASA improve its online presence.
Fundraising — Asking people to donate to CASA of Lexington, connecting CASA of Lexington with individuals or organizations that may be interested in donating.
Interpretation — People who are fluent in English and at least one other language may be able to help us better serve children whose family members do not speak English or communicate better in their native language. Friends of CASA interpreters must be at least 18 years old, pass the same background checks as CASA volunteers and be sworn in by a judge before they can be assigned to a case. Interpreters can help ensure family members are fully understood, which improves outcomes for the children and families involved in a case.
