Although it looked a little different, CASA of Lexington’s Bourbon and the Bayou was as unforgettable as ever!

During this year’s event, Executive Director Melynda Jamison and emcee Ryan Lemond with Kentucky Sports Radio announced that for every child sponsored as part of the 2021 Bourbon and the Bayou, Ryan will run 1 mile (and Melynda will run 4) before next year’s event! Watch our home page for an updated total on the number of miles Ryan has run!

Bourbon Tasting Experience

Bourbon Sommelier Tim Knittel with Distilled Living kicked off the festivities on Feb. 12 with a virtual bourbon-tasting experience. Knittel is a Kentucky bourbon industry insider with over 10 years of experience in bourbon education and event design.

Sponsor a Child

Like every year, we asked you to sponsor an abused or neglected child. For $1,000, you cover the approximate cost of providing a child with a CASA volunteer for a full year.

During the 2021 Bourbon and the Bayou, 46 people stepped up and did just that — a remarkable accomplishment during an incredibly challenging year.

2020 Was a Great Bourbon and the Bayou Year!

2020’s Bourbon and the Bayou event was our most successful ever! Held at the historic Carrick House in Lexington, the Feb. 21, 2020, event featured a Fat Friday gala with Mardi Gras theme, live music by Jordan English, Cajun food, bourbon tastings, Mari Gras entertainment, a silent auction and live auction.

The sold-out event raised thousands for CASA of Lexington, helping us continue to advocate for the best interests of hundreds of abused and neglected children from Bourbon, Fayette and Woodford counties. It was the first year for our new Heads & Tails game, which attendees participated in by purchasing special CASA of Lexington Mardi Gras beads.

Bourbon and the Bayou 2020 honored the Cummins Family of Paris, who were instrumental in establishing our CASA program in Bourbon County. We can’t say thank you enough for their amazing dedication to CASA’s mission.
